Staying at Ku Sungula Safari Lodge was an experience beyond anything I could have imagined—it was pure magic from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and a refreshing drink. What truly sets this lodge apart is the staff. The guides were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also passionate about the land and its wildlife. Each game drive was a thrilling adventure, packed with sightings of the Big Five and narrated with stories and facts that brought the bush to life. We booked a stay at Ku Sungula safari lodge last minute and couldn't have been happier with our stay! To start, Anne was fantastic with our last minute booking - making it so easy!From the moment we arrived at the Hoedspruit airport and were collected by DJ, we knew we had made the right choice for a safari lodge!Once at the property, all of the staff were amazing, friendly and professional! The property and our rondavel guest house was awesome - complete with outdoor shower (que the elephant passing by!) and adjacent private outdoor living area. The food was great and plentiful! WiFi available and good!The star of the experience was the game drives we did morning and late afternoon/evening! With Confidence (Coffee) driving and DJ spotting/tracking we had a fantastic time! They were a great team, allowing ample time for photos and asking the guests what they wanted to see or attempt to see on each drive. The open top/open side Toyota Land Cruisers were comfortable able to go anywhere! Blankets and/or ponchos were provided as needed. We were able to get up close and personal with lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, a leopard, rhinos and hippos - just to mention the big ones!Coffee also was great about pointing out smaller critters and birds as well as sharing information about the different trees & bushes and how they are used by the local tribal people - she was a wealth of information! DJ was a fantastic tracker/spotter and I know we were able to see more because of his expertise! Many of the game vehicles from the various lodges in the area talk to each other on the radio to share locations/sightings - what we noticed is that we were almost always first at an animal location - because these guys are the best!Anyway, I wholeheartedly recommend the Ku Sungula safari lodge! Just splendid. I don't know why I didn't go on a safari earlier but Ku Sungula were a great way to do it. The lodge was really comfy, the food and service great but the highlight was the games drives and the knowledge and skill that the guide and tracker brought to it.
This place was an amazing experience! We got the entire safari experience because of the wonderful staff! I got the 5 day package which was reasonable priced compared to other packages.First, this place is beautiful and very clean. Staff is constantly working to give us the best experience. They are all friendly and amazing! The entire staff from Confidence, Moses, John, DJ, Trinity were just outstanding!The first day we got there we went on our first game drive and it was an amazing first experience. It was just like what we saw in the TV. We saw lions eating and elephants up close.We saw how big Kruger National Park is. You can drive hours in there. You see a large amount of animal groups there but I didn’t know this. You can only see animals from the roads. The park is protected. That is why I loved the lodge. They are able to drive on their reserve off road and get up close to the animals.They took care of everything from beginning to end and it was a very luxury experience. My recommendation for this place is to fly into Hoedspruit Airport which is one hour from Johannesburg airport. We changed our plans last minute to fly back to Johannesburg and they were able to easily accommodate us!They wash your clothes everyday which was amazing and they charges a very low fe!I also recommend staying here longer to get more game drives. Every time we went out we saw something different but it’s always a gamble because it wildlife and you can see everything or nothing. You never know.Overall, this place was a dream and the experience we got will stay with us forever. I can’t wait to come back!
Our expectations were exceeded.We got to seeThe Big Five *****and much more. This is thanks to the team of trackers/guides, (Confidence, Sibusiso). They were very knowledgeable and helpful. Also a big thank you to the chef, who cooked without certain ingredients that I cannot tolerate. We received the best service at the table, and a big thank you to the other staff we met. Great to see elephants drinking from the terrace. During the day you can relax by the pool and on the terrace. And saw many animals early in the morning and in the evening during the safaris led by experienced guides.
What a breathtakingly beautiful place! Enjoyed the hospitality of the owners and staff, the game drives, the delicious food! And how cool is it when, during a delicious lunch, you see the elephants drinking and bathing 25 meters away!
Perfect from arriving to departing which we did with heavy hearts . We saw 2 kills and all big 5 . all 9 of my party had a fantastic stay . The staff , guides , food and hospitality never strayed from 10 out of 10 . Thanks Ku Sungula🤗🤗

Very beautiful and nice lodge! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms look really nice. Game drives in the morning and evening with a good driver and tracker. Saw a lot of beautiful things! Nice concept to eat together with fellow travelers after every game drive. The Bush walk we did was also super fun and educational. In short, this lodge is highly recommended!Bart & Maaike
Enchanting experiences and memories from Ku Sungula.Myself, my children, my grandchildren and my in-laws had an experience of a lifetime that was far beyond our wildest expectations. A superbly decorated Safari Lodge in Balule Nature Reserve, nice catering and some very nice, willing and competent staff made the stay unforgettable. We felt very welcome and were carried on our hands and feet from the time we got up for the first safari at 05:30 AM and until we went to bed in some very welcoming cabins. We started our trip well at the Ku Sungula lodge. A beautiful location in a beautiful reserve, which immediately brought us into the African atmosphere. We enjoyed the friendly staff, the game drives and the super tasty food served here. This lodge is highly recommended!
Our dream has become reality. With our family, 15 people, to South Africa. Ku Sungula....what a TOP location. A special welcome by wonderfully sweet, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing is too much for them. The delicious meals, the special drives, the swimming pool, the personal attention. Highly recommended. It is unimaginably beautiful and impressive to see the elephants so close, for example; while you are standing under the outdoor shower, during a meal or while enjoying a drink on the beautiful terrace. A holiday you will never forget.
We were so wonderfully spoiled at this beautiful lodge! It was the icing on the cake of our 23 day road trip through South Africa. Wonderful to stay the last days.The rondavels are clean, spacious and fully equipped. The food is also great and the staff is great!! We went on a game drive six times, which was also fully catered for with a snack and drink! One word: Fantastic!!!
I usually never write reviews but our safari experience was so awesome that I decided to share it.We stayed at Ku Sangula Safari Lodge and we are extremely happy with our choice. To be honest I can't imagine what could be better. We choosed a 5-day safari. On the first day within 3 hours we saw the Big five and more! It's an indescribable feeling🐆Camp staff are INCREDIBLY friendly and do everything to make visitors feel comfortable. Delicious food, clean accommodation, safety and a lot of fun!Guides are professionals and know where and when to find animals. They can answer any questions and tell interesting facts about animals.Thank you so much for a chance being part of your family!❤️🔥
We've just stayed three nights at Ku Sungula... It was the most amazing experience! From the moment we arrived till we (sadly) had to move on we had a perfect time. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The lodge (we had the "Buffalo") was just a short safe walk from the main building, it was cozy but clean and had everything. We could spot all kinds of animals from our terrace, and had daily visits from elephants just a few meters away behind the fence. The food was always good, fresh and more than enough. Any diet or wishes for the next meal were written down and taken care of. The morning and evening game drives were very professional arranged with a team of knowledgeable guides. They kept in close contact with the guides from the other lodges in the area via the radio and worked together to find all the amazing animals. Morning drives have a coffee/tea stop, in the evening they stop for sundown with a beer, wine or softdrink and some snacks. Not cheap, but well worth it!
Grandiose!!!! Surpassing. What an atmosphere, what lovely people, you are so well looked after. The game drives are very beautiful. You get close to the animals.
We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Ku Sungula. Very hospitable host (Wisdom) for whom nothing asked was too much. Very well organized lodge, with excellent food and catering. Staying in the lodge between the naughty elephants and lions is very special and they game drives brought us the big 5, topped with Hyena, zebra, giraffes and lion cubs. What a great lodge. We were able to stay here for 3 nights last summer with our children aged 10 and 11 years old. It was a great ending to a great South Africa experience. Our rondavel was nice, clean, spacious and the beds are wonderful. The lodge is located in the middle of the game reserve with many beautiful animals, including the big 5. It is therefore not recommended to walk outside on your own, but with the great guides it is a great experience. Nice jeep safaris with very hospitable and knowledgeable guides and relaxing at the lodge where you will be pampered by all the lovely hospitable staff, what more could you want! The food was also an experience every day and super tasty. Highly recommended for young and old!
In the middle of the busch, beautiful location. Easy to drive with your own (rental) car. Hence a great base for the safari. The food is great. Service exceptionally good. The elephants just walk along the terrace. Wow!!

A one of a kind experience in hospitality, wild life and atmosphere.I can advise you to go and see for yourself. I did, six times already and I cannot wait to visit the Ku Sungula Lodge and the nearby surroundings again. A big 5 game area and very close to the Kruger National Parc too. Our time at KuSungula Lodge was unforgettable in all the right ways. From the warm and friendly greeting from Wisdom and Moses, the beautiful accommodations within Greater Kruger, the delicious food (including tasty vegetarian fare as we do not eat meat), the morning and late afternoon game drives with Solly (so informative about the animals and environment) and "Bush Baby" (with his good eyesight to spot all kinds of wildlife), the smiles and friendliness from Annoint and others (who make the lodge clean and lovely), and of course, the beauty of the area and the animals we had the privilege of viewing, we will remember KuSungula for a lifetime.
Exceptional in every way, we were treated like VIPs, nothing was too much for the staff. We stayed at the lodge for 4 nights, and went on two safari drives per day, our Rangers John and Universe were fantastic, we got to see all of the big 5. Totally recommend Ku Sungula safari lodge.
