A pure wilderness experience around the borders of Kruger National Park and the Drakensbergen. The route will start from Ku Sungula Safari Lodge whom is situated in the Kruger Park into letaba Ranch which is part of The Kruger National Park and goes mainly off road. The great letaka River runs trough the Park. from Letaba Ranch we will explore the Lekgalameetse this scenic mountain reserve is part of the Drakensberg mountain range and is characterized by grassy hills, lush kloof and indigenous forests. The awesome natural beauty of this reserve with its crystal clear rivers and waterfalls is the foremost reason to visit. From Lekgalameetse we will drive to the Mariepskop. The Mariepskop at 1.945 mar above sea level, is one of the highest peaks in the northern Drakensberg, and the highest point of the Blyde River Canyon in South Africa. It is situated at the junction of tree conservation areas, namely Mariepskop Forest Reserve, Mariepskop State Forest, and the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. The following night we will spend at Klasserie Game Reserve situated in the Kruger National Park. the Klasserie River runs trough this reserve. The last day we will go back to Ku Sungula Safari Lodge in the Balule Private Nature Reserve.

Day 1. Road transfer from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport to Balule Private Nature Reserve and afternoon game drive

Ku Sungula Safari Lodge located in the Balule Private Nature Reserve has a rich wildlife and spectacular views as the border with the Kruger National Park is open and the northern Drakensberg provides a great backdrop. The “reserve” is home to the Big-5, many other animal pieces and a paradise for birds. Upon arrival you will be warmly welcomed with a cool drink on our centrally located terrace. After checking in in the authentic rondawel reserved for you, you can relax on the terrace and enjoy a high tea. One of the safari highlights are the game drive safaris. Let our professional, passionate guides take you for an unparalleled bush experience. In an open safari vehicle they bring you a few meters away from the wild animals.

Day 2. Letaba Ranch Nature Reserve

From Ku Sungula Safari lodge we will depart in our special made vehicle and guide towards Letaba Ranch for a two night wild camping. letaba Ranch is a concession area where our guide has concessions to explore the park and camp on the most beautiful spots. Letaba Ranch is a protected area in the Limpopo province of South Africa. It is located north of Phalaborwa, adjacent to the National Kruger Park, and covers an area of 42.000 ha. The border between letaba and the Kruger National Park is unfenced, allowing wildlife including the Big-5 to roam the African bush unhindered. The Great Letaba River runs trough the park. Early afternoon we will arrive at our first campsite, tents and beds will be put up and in the meanwhile a small campfire will be prepared. We can relax and have a pre diner drink enjoying the environment with al her nature beauty and listen to the sounds of birds and animals. After it is getting dark diner will be ready.

Day 3. Letaba Ranch Nature Reserve

Early morning after breakfast we will breakdown the camp and heading to our next camp in Letaba Ranch. Letaba means “river of sand”. This is a striking description that provides an essential watering hole for the animals in the Letaba Ranch Nature Reserve. Letaba Ranch is part of the African Ivory Route. This history lies in the paths of earlier ivory hunters and gold traders who traversed the elephant’s migration routes. Early afternoon we will arrive and put up our tens and beds. At this special place we can take a bath in the river. In the far distance looking at the elephants walking around we will take a cool drink and relax, taking beautiful pictures or playing a game. When our campfire is heating up and the stars appears in the sky we will have a wonderful campfire diner.

Day 4. Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve

Our arrow is pointing towards Lekgalameetse Reserve. The reserve is an unspoiled mountain wilderness of 18.800 ha, west of Coloca and Trichardysdal in the northern Drakensberg of the Limpopo province, South Africa. This scenic mountain reserve is part of the Drakensberg Mountains and is characterized by grassy hills, lush canyons and native forests. The awe-inspiring natural beauty of this reserve with its crystal clear rivers and waterfalls is the main reason to visit. In the afternoon we will put up our camp in this lovely area. Taking a deep breath and look at the beautiful scenery while enjoying a drink. While the flames of the fire hypnosis us, diner will be prepared.

Day 5. Mariepskop

The next adventurous destination is the Mariepskop here we will truly test the low 4×4 gears of our vehicle and climb to the highest top to explore the magnificent views. After this experience we will go all the way downhill into the Blyde River Canyon where we can take a bath in the river or walk along the river in this stunning area. The flora and fauna in this part is sub tropical and full with lovely butterfly’s. While you explore the area the tents will be put up and a fire will be prepared for our dinner.

Day 6. Klasserie Game Reserve

The Klasserie private Nature Reserve is one of the largest privately owned nature reserves in South Africa. This Big-5 area covers 60.000 ha and is part of the National Kruger Park. While driving trough the park we might be lucky and spot already some awesome animals. We will set up our camp in the park on a beautiful spot and make a small fir for our last bushdiner.

Day 7. Bush walk and depart to Ku Sungula Safari Lodge

Early morning an experienced armed guide will together with you explore the fascinating African nature by foot. On the walk you will learn about tracks, plants, trees, birds and much more. Although you can encounter big game during your walk, the emphasis lies on the smaller things in the bush that often get overlooked during a game drive. After a good breakfast we will go to the direction of Ku Sungula Safari Lodge where you will spend the last night of this safari adventure.

Day 8. Morning game drive and Departure

It is almost time to say goodbye after the morning game drive and a great breakfast we will bring you to the pick up point for your transfer to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport.
